Before we go any further we’ll explain what the lumen is as this is sometimes misunderstood by those who aren’t familiar with lighting terms.
Lumens is the SI (International System) derived unit for measuring the luminous flux, or how much light is emitted by a source.

The brightness of a flashlight is rated in lumens. A standard flashlight will have around 50 to 100 lumens.
